Thanksgiving in Africa an
ACT of Thanksgiving for Africa
Each
year ROCK of Africa Mission conducts a vitally important
ACT of Thanksgiving Outreach.
This outreach
addresses the critical needs facing southern Africa in
November, which is springtime in the southern hemisphere.
These volunteers will give up their Thanksgiving holiday
with family and friends at home, and say 'Thank You'
with their actions not just words,
by helping people in Africa facing enormous
difficulty.
Because it is Thanksgiving,
the
Outreach Team will prepare Africa-Style
THANKSGIVING FEASTS
in
rural villages where hunger is the reality. There will be
plenty of food for everyone.
The seasonal rains are about to come
and CROPS MUST BE
PLANTED NOW. ROCK of Africa Mission provides
maize SEED
so families
will be able to plant a crop and provide for themselves.
People cheer and dance when they receive seed.
These people are not looking for a handout, they simply need
a way to grow food, to provide for themselves.
Spring rains bring the
MOSQUITOES SPREADING DEADLY
MALARIA.
ROCK of
Africa Mission provides
MOSQUITO NETS
to protect families from
the dreadful disease. 20% of Zambian babies do not
live to be 5 years of age, because of malaria. A
recent study in the UK determined that every mosquito net
statistically equals one year of life for a child.
HIV/AIDS and despair is overwhelming
the region and people need a
PATHWAY TO LIFE AND HOPE.
ROCK
of Africa Mission will distribute
BIBLES
donated by the World Bible Society.
